I have a macbook pro 15" hires early 2011. I need an external led monitor for it and I don't remember if it can drive a 1920x1080 natively or if it needs to be a 1680 x 1050. I know that if you get the wrong native resolution on the AMD.

It can power the Thunderbolt display which is 2560-1440.

2560x1600 is the exact maximum resolution. (via dual-dvi adaptor). This means that it will drive a 30" 2560x1600 monitor.
