A041, seems pretty nice relatively uniform and good quality.

bit warmer next to my 2016 NTB, definitely less bright (as I would expect from the specs), but on its own not bad at all

I think its a keeper. i5/8/256

For reference of what I'm talking about:
System preferences-> display -> color -> open profile (with Color LCD highlighted) -> scroll to line 17 where it says manufacturer model:

More uniform than some macbook pros ive seen, great all around.
More warm "orange" than warm "yellow/green" which a lot of macbooks seem to be lately.
Colorimeter confirms my eyeball measurements. Red and blue were almost perfect at 6500 target. Green one tick above.

Off topic, but I wish the hinge was 15% more resistance.

Not sure... could be a Catalina thing.

LSN is generally the prefix for Samsung panels so not sure who makes yours since the model starts off with a question mark. That's interesting tho thanks for the data point!

Would love to see what others got (not to provoke paranoia, but just morbid curiosity. I'd be willing to bet LG is the more common one)

Here's my 16" MBpro info- see how the longer string seems to be something else? I bet we are just missing the shorter string with the mfr info.

Are there any actual differences — I.e., anything that comes close to the LG vs. Samsung issues of days of yore (2013-2015+) MBAs?! With Samsung being head and shoulders better for many, if not most, people.

I suspect that this is what this thread is trying to find out.

The machine is still new, not many people have them. All I know is mine seems pretty comparable to my previous MacBook Pro and I have no complaints personally.

hard to qualify unless someone is in an Apple store (which isn’t open) to compare side by side units or someone who was unhappy with one unit and exchanged for another they’re ok with

for now it’s really just curiosity of what people have ended up with / what manufacturers are floating around this iteration

well I got an i5/512, going to return my i5/256 but not because the screen just the storage difference and got a great deal on the 512, and this one is an A042 like some of you seem to be getting. seems a hair brighter than my A041 and colors on google logo a bit more pronounced, but they seem very close at a quick glance.

It's amazing how Apple can sometimes calibrate different manufacturer panels to be really close in real world performance

Not sure who makes this one vs A041 which was LG

I’d speculate could be a Samsung normally the numbering between LG and Samsung is one off on the model
