Sometimes my windows shares cannot connect and I have to restart my MBP to get it to work. A couple of months ago I found a terminal command to restart samba which saved me from restarting my MBP. I misplaced the command.

Anyone know the command?

Try
Code:
/System/Library/StartupItems/Samba/Samba start
Or
Code:
/usr/sbin/serveradmin start smb
Replace 'start' with 'stop' to stop.
