what is this icon and how do i shut it off? some sort of rotation thingie :)

i got in this iphone out of the pile to use for a bit until i figure mine out. it has this dumb icon that i'm assuming is the reason i can't rotate the phone in text etc. haven't seen this one before and don't know how to kill it. top right, next to the batt %

any ideas?

holy crap, for as long as i've been messing with these things i've never looked there... i dug through all the crap on cydia, a billion different websites..... i feel dumb!
