Hello,

I'm totally new to os x, I bought a second hand MacBook that is all wiped out from the previous owner data except from a strange icon on the menu bar which I'm unable to open as it always asking for password.

can someone, please, tell me what is it? it looks like some kind of spy program.

thanks ,

Well that's the ancient Egyptian hieroglyph for Osiris, if that helps. Quick Google turns up nothing.

If I were you, I would completely wipe the MacBook again and start fresh. You don't want other junk from the previous owner on your laptop, regardless what it is.

It's likely nothing of significance, but I would wipe the computer and start fresh anyways.

Correction, it's actually the Eye of Horus.

Also, after doing a lot of digging, because I enjoy Egyptian mythology mostly, it appears to be Refog, a keylogging application. You can kill it by looking for a process called "smoke". It also has a bunch of various hidden directories, but that's the basics of it.
