what is this on my screen?

hello,

what is this (circled in orange) on my screen? note the lighter, bluish edges - the spot seems to be diffusing slowly.

i did a software update a couple days ago; however, i doubt this is software related. cos when hitting shitf+cmd+4, the spot can't be captured.

my laptop was never dropped, and nothing has ever hit the lcd.

applecare will cover this, right?

Looks like a circle of crushed pixels.

Call up AppleCare about this anomaly.

yeah if it doesnt show on images of the desktop then its a pixel issue, im sure applecare should do something about it.

First thing that comes to mind is you left something round and hard on the eject key then closed the lid. Now obviously you would've noticed something that big when you opened, maybe someone else used it?

Aside: when I first got my MBP, I was paranoid about me leaving the magsafe cap on the computer then closing the lid. I eventually banished it to the MBP box.

Lol, I did the excact same thing with my first Macbook, now realizing that the cap won't really make the same difference as it did with the old powerbricks.

negative. i'm the only user and the laptop is basically a desktop, the lid hasn't been closed for weeks cos i'm on winter break. there's no damage on the screen at all.

but yeah, i'm v paranoid about leaving stuff on the mbp as well. probably b/c i've seen someone closing his laptop's lid while there's a pen in between.

i think i found something, this seems to occur spontaneously.
