Hi all,

I've disassembled a 1 GHz 12 Inch iBook G4 from 2004. I notice something that looks like a PRAM or CMOS battery. Can someone please tell me what this is and what the proper term for it is? If it is a battery, I'm having difficultly finding a replacement for it. It looks like its soldered on.

Thanks!

I'd say that's a capacitor - likely similar to this:

Can verify they can and will leak, but not as bad as the lithium batteries from that era. I had one that started to leak in my iBook, clipped it out with some wire cutters.

You will notice, nowhere did I mention anything about iBooks and PRAM batteries.

Touch a third rail once… :D
