I am talking about the blotchy section at the bottom of the screen that is brighter than the rest of it. All of a sudden it started "bleeding" from the bottom, and it covered that area within a few minutes.

there's a ghost in your machine!

looks like you are going to have to replace your LCD, you can search it up on ifixit.com to see the process, its really simple take an hour to do, you can buy used LCD's on Ebay
 
I'd check with an Apple repair center. It's not an awfully expensive repair (especially if you purchase a replacement LCD yourself). I would feel more comfortable having a professional install such an important component of the MacBook, but hey, that's just me.
