Title says it all. I have seen many ppl have this icon in their iPhone, but not mine. Anyone could tell me what this is?

What the others said. It prevents your phone from going into landscape mode when you turn it sideways.
 
Well, I could just post "Rotation Lock", but that wouldn't be helpful, now would it?

Yes, your Portrait Orientation is locked. To unlock it (and be rid of that status icon), double click your home button, swipe to the right, and it will reveal your music controls, as well as the Portrait Orientation button. Tap to turn on or off.

Perhaps he has a 3G, no rotation lock on that. Irked me at the time, ridiculous omission, same applies to lack of % battery indicator when the 3GS had both . I jail broke back then for such things. Petty Apple.

I'm assuming the pic isn't his, obviously.
