I know we see lots of questions about why there's so much space being used by "Other" on Macs, but can someone explain this?!

As you see, all I have is an 8GB iPod Touch (4th generation), and I'm noticing this large amount of space on "other" taking up nearly 2GB! Considering iOS 5 already weighs down my HDD from around 7.something GB on iOS 4 all the way down to only having 6.35GB of space, i'm already tight on my space! Even after restores this other is very prominent! What is this "Other" on my iPod, and how do I get rid of it?

A bit of that would be taken up by the OS, but not that much... If you haven't restored it in a long time it could be lots of crap in the caches that had built up. In that case restoring the iPod will get rid of most of that 'other' stuff. But you aren't close to filling up your memory, so if I were you I'd do a full restore to get rid of the crap when/if I run out of space and need that junk to be gone.

I just did a restore. It's still around the same size. My iPod is not jailbroken either.

But did you do a full restore as a new iPod, then have to put apps on manually? Because if you restored it from a recent backup then it will just put all the caches and crap back onto the iPod.
