i tested mine earlier and the only thing i could hear was the static and only when and ONLY WHEN i tap to focus it makes a click but not constantly because thats what i got from everyone who moaned about it on the forum.

Some models appear (including mine) to produce a clicking if you record a video while on a locked wifi network. Some people even have it happen when they're not on wifi.
@BJB That is a different problem. I had the issue the OP is talking about and I ended up going to the Apple Store to get it replaced.
