What is wrong with my Mac?

Hi,

I have had this on my Mac for a while now and it is starting to bother me. When I right click on certain file types, I get several of the same Application coming up in the 'Open With' menu, despite only having one copy of these applications on my Mac (and only one user account - mine).

The problem can be seen in the screenshot attached.

I have the latest version of OS X, 10.4.9 and I am only seeing this problem on my Intel C2D iMac.

I have already tried repairing permissions, reseting PRAM. Any suggestions?

Perfect! Thanks very much Robbie! Is there are bizarre reason you know fo for why this happens (I've never had two versions of VLC or iTunes on my Mac at any one time)?

External drive with backups? Did you run it from the install disk image? It just got confused?
