My MacBook Pro started getting Kernal Panics earlier this year. (I posted then as well). Mac first claimed Ram was the issue, then said there was liquid damage. Just trying to figure out what is really wrong and what the value of the system is, as is. And what repairs would cost and what would the value be then. Below is Panic Logs (More logs available, just posted some). Any help is appreciated! Thanks so much!

The name of the company that makes your computer is Apple, not Mac.

If you have liquid damage to the machine there isn't a lot of help that can be given without a hands on inspection of the unit.

To isolate your problem you need to isolate the following variables:

RAM
HDD
ODD
AP/BT
Display

If detaching or using known good examples of each of the above variables doesn't change your KPs, then you're looking at a damaged logic board (probably the case) and the cost of replacement usually exceeds the value of the machine.

If that is the case (which it most likely is) you could potentially get some money out of undamaged components, like the display clamshell, etc.

I am aware of who makes the computer. However I use Mac and Apple interchangeably particularly since it is Mac Authority who serviced the laptop.
Not really a big deal which name I use, I suppose.

Thanks for the feedback.

If I were to sell it as is, what is the minimum I should take?
Prior to earlier this year, it has been a great system. Still functions just fine at times.

Mac OS X Version 10.5.8
17inch
Intel Core 2 Duo
2.4ghz
4gb of memory

Fairly new battery. New charger.

Could you go into a little more detail on this? It seems odd that they'd say ram then liquid damage. If there is third party ram inside they sometimes red flag that, but it's fine as long as it's tested for the model you're using, and if ram may have gone bad there's always single user mode memtest. Where would liquid damage have come from? Did you spill something on it?

Apple's service people say a lot of stuff. Apple does have flat rate repairs on some laptops. If it has a bad logic board it's not worth that much as it's a very expensive repair. If that is the case, it will fail prematurely even if it still sometimes works okay now.

Well... before, i just thought you had switched Mac and Apple, and that an Apple store had provided the service. I would find an Apple store and have it checked there, since the information from Mac Authority doesn't seem to be very trustable.

Kernel panics started earlier this year. Randomly usually during Internet use but not only during this time. Sometimes it occurs quickly other times you can get through a whole movie with no issues, etc. It really varies.

I know when it first started I lost just about everything, music, photos, etc.

System had worked perfect until this and was absolutely amazing. So very dissapointing.

I spilled coke on it in fall of 2008 or early 2009 however I never experienced any issues and nothing was ever said by apple until this year.

MacBook Pro still powers on.Sometimes the first time. Sometimes it takes a few tries.

I decided not to follow through with repairs earlier this year because I was told to replace the logic board due to liquid damage. I just bought a new iMac.
Now I'm trying to sell the iMac and MacBook Pro.

Just need to figure out what I can get for the pro.

It's a long term corrosive so you wouldn't notice issues right away....As to what your Mac is worth "as is" not a lot. If the logic board has sustained damage things will probably get worse.....Don't know what Apple would charge for repairing it, but why not ask....Selling it the way it is now is likely to lead to comebacks and hassle.

if you've resigned to give up on the machine, you can give one last thing a shot. Disassemble and remove the logic board. Gently clean it with a toothbrush and 99% alcohol. This will clean any gunk from spilling any liquid on it. After the alcohol has completely evaporated, put it back together. It may work. An Apple tech I know and work with was given a machine that was dead from water damage and this fixed the machine. It's a shot in the dark (kinda like re-flowing) but if you're done with it anyways, go for it.
