I prefer QuickTime with Perian because I don't like VLC for Mac too much. QT with Perian seems to handle all the file types I need to play.

Movist for me, only that I would like to have DVD playback with it. However I keep VLC for handbrake.

for me vlc i like to keep things similar between operating system though am an mplayer fan at heart

just development on mplayer mac wise seem slow which is also the same for mplayer extended

mplayer osx change the keyboard shortcuts and such to the stage i wish they would of just keep things normal shortcut wise

perian for me is ok i just use it as a backup to vlc

vlc has it issues and seem to be dying in the mac development field no one got any idea when the new gui will come out also need vlc for handbrake

i like QT but it doesn't have good subtitle options like fonts, make subtitles bigger and change subtitle time.
