I just purchased a new car and had never checked my score before, they told me mine was 717. I know that's far from perfect, but I was pleasantly surprised.

Wow. I thought it only went to 800... shows how much I know. Like I said in the OP, I've never even checked it. I'm just very conscious with regards to my cards and such.

Reason it is down is because of two credit cards. Getting that fixed.

Interesting note: credit card is unsecured credit so your credit score would get more hurt by not paying on a $5,000 credit card debt than a $250,000 home loan.

she works in the biz of credit, and she hardly ever sees anything above 800, getting worse by the month she says.
