I am at season 4 of Homeland and wow. I love it. It took the top spot of the list for me. What's your favorite and why?

The Wire, by a long way.
Why? Peerless story telling that scales from street-level drama all the way to an indictment of entire power structures. Every season adds a new layer. Flawless television.

At least you can watch Homeland Season after Season.....;)
Imagine watching it when broadcast, having to wait till the next year to continue....

I absolutely luuuuved Homeland, but there are so many shows I love, I couldn't pick just one...

Hard to say. There's a few shows I really like. I'll go with Star Trek the Next Generation. As it's the first name that came to mind. Rather than overthinking it.

In all honesty…

To this day the show has stuck with me, who as a 14 year old kid would rush home after school to see the show.

But there are others. The Honeymooners which I got into late in life is one - Otherworlds, a 1985 one season only show is another. V, the Highwayman too.

But if you're going to make me choose an 'adult' program then I guess it would be this…

One of the greats! Flawed, sure, but definitely a lifelong favourite.
Definitely it has its flaws. It's basically my stepping stone to SciFi. Sure I enjoyed some SciFi before. But I didn't pay too much attention to the genre. Then I saw "A Fistful of Datas". Which hooked me on the show then the show on the genre and the possibilities of technology.

I accidentally wandered into ST TNG by inadvertently taping a random episode… which turned out to be “Best of both Worlds Pt. 1” so i really hit the jackpot there. It was a long time before i finally caught the re-run of Pt. 2 but i was already hooked.

As a young teenager I discovered the original series in syndication and loved the show. So I was eagerly awaiting TNG because this time around I was going to be in from the first airing. I kind of missed the first airing of the original series by four years (I was born in 1970). :D

That's definitely a good one. Thank goodness it wasn't "Sub Rosa".

The Expanse is a great modern SciFi and if you're limiting us to one, that would be it at the moment, perhaps due to the recency effect. Babylon 5 was great in its day even if it ended rather awkwardly. Monty Python's Flying Circus deserves a mention-- perhaps not my all time favorite but influential.

I'm sure as I read other people's inputs, I'll start reordering my list. There's been a lot of good TV lately, but I think the fact that it's so bingeable also gives it less impact on me. I hardly watch anything week to week anymore, and find it more pleasurable to sit through a full series beginning to end, but I'm realizing of all the really good content I've seen in the last 2-4 years, nothing comes to mind to list here...

My favorite as kid was watching The Greatest American Hero on TV! The Intro song actually became a real life hit!
I know this isn't meant to be a nostalgia thread, but do you know if Max Headroom is on any of the streaming services? I've been looking for that and Greatest American Hero-- I'm just curious what my adult self thinks of them...

Max Headroom series
There was a series of this!?!? Huh. I loved the version of him presenting music videos, but didn't know there was an actual scripted drama/comedy.

For me I'd go Married With Children or Seinfeld. I can't separate them!
Modern day? Mmm... comedy is a dying genre on TV so there's really none around apart from Curb but the latest series has been just solid. Drama? I gave up on drama because I find the writers get lazy after a season or two. But I have been enjoying Taskmaster quite a lot recently. Not the horrid USA version, but the UK version.

Found this on Amazon

I enjoyed it when originally on, but as you say, a second look may appear different now....?

No, I have no idea if these are streaming anywhere, I'm sorry.
