I'm considering getting an iPhone, but I already own a 3rd gen Nano. That made me wonder about if I really need another music/video player device. And I'm not exactly burning up hours of time per month on my old Nokia. Now I'm curious...how many of you use your iPhone mostly as a phone? Or mostly as an internet device? How many of you use it mostly as an iPod? I recall Jobs' presentation where he presented it as a 3-in-1 device. What do you use it for most?

I've been multitasking on a regular basis:

email/text message
phone/voicemail
iPod
internet web apps
maps
weather
stock market
calculator
alarm clock
notes
photos/camera
calendar

Gawd, I'm addicted to my iPhone! LOL :D:eek:

When I first got it, I used it mainly for video and music. Now that the newness has worn off, I mostly just use it for email and phone use. I was so excited when the 16GB came out, I got it on day one for all the music I could put on it and now I maybe use it for music once a week if that. Never for videos.

Measured in terms of time:

iPod (usually combined with web browsing)
then comes web-browsing
games (jail-broken, you see)
e-mail is less intensive, but very handy
cool for texting, and the conversation organisations work better than I thought
I've watched a couple of movies, handy on longer journeys
...you mean it's also a phone?!

Phone
Texts
Intarweb
iPod
Photo Library
Camera/Notes
Google Maps as a direction finder when driving
Parking Meter alarm
Calendar/To Do list
Yell.co.uk for business numbers
Calculator
AAPL Stock Price
YouTube/occasional videos
Weather

in that order.
Did I miss anything out?

Internet and music use mostly. Lots of checking email, a little sending of the email. Texting. Uhm...calculator a lot =], wish it was more like the 2.0 one. And light phone use.

From most used to least used:

1. Internet
2. Mail
3. SMS
4. Weather
5. Phone
6. Camera
7: iPod
8: Youtube
9: Notes
10: Calculator
11: Clock
12: iTunes
13: Stocks
14: Maps
15: Calender

Hope that helps :)

In order of use:

1. Internet
2. Email
3. iPod
4. Phone
5. Camera
6. Weather
7. Maps
8. Up-skirt photos
9. Maps
10. Clock (Timer, Stopwatch)
11. Notes

I'm really trying to bump #8 up higher, y'know, turn it into a career. :D

I have a 3G nano as well, but ever since I got the iPhone (and a clip-on case for the gym) I no longer use it. I've begun trying to sell it, actually. Any takers?:D

Lets see:

Texting(about 5000 text messages a month)
Internet(About 3 hours a day)
Phone(about 300 minutes a month)

That's basically it. I think the iPhone is pretty boring now, IMO. But I know for sure it will get better when the 2.0 Software Update is out. I can't wait!! :)D)

iPod, e-mail, phone, Internet

In that order, although phone and Internet may switch. I really needed this as something to merge my phone and iPod and to have useful Web-based stuff when I needed it. I helped some guy find a Bank of America location a few days ago, and I use the notes as a shopping list.

There are still many things lacking in the Internet department. I thought I'd use it more for that, but the lack of Flash is more apparent to me now. When one of your favorite Web sites has Flash ads all over the place that create problems when not available, well that's a problem.

Quicken also needs to do better than their mostly bare-bones Quicken Online. That's about the only way I can get my financial info on my iPhone, and I'm not paying $3/month so they can pop the same information up that I already have on my bank's Web site. They need a software app for 2.0 that syncs with your Quicken desktop software.

Phone first and foremost,
ipod
internet
and last but not least email.....
and the rest of its functions here and there.....

Wirelessly posted (Apple Communication Device: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU like Mac OS X; en) AppleWebKit/420.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.0 Mobile/4A102 Safari/419.3)

At first I was very excited to have the iPod built into the phone. Now though I find myself hardly using the iPod function. Its mainly a phone/email/web thing for me. Things will probably change after the release of third party apps.

Most used would be...

-Internet (including IM- i have jailbroken the bad boy)
-SMS
-iPod
-Phone
-Notes
-Calendar (i have my school timetable on it)
-YouTube (when i can't sleep)

That's about it.
