Hi all,

I'm planning to buy my first macbook (pro). I'm currently working on a 17.3" Acer 7740G. This will be going to my dad. Downgrading won't be quite a problem for me, cause I'm planning to buy the Mac Pro update later this year or maybe early 2011.

As for the Macbook (Pro). I will be using the macbook (pro) for the following:
- Photoshop
- Audio Editing
- Of course the basics as surfing, typing etc.
- A little bit of gaming
- Maybe some video-editing

I'm considering the follow macbooks (pro):
- Current White Macbook, with the upgrade of Ram
- The upcoming Unibody Macbook
- Base 13" macbook Pro
- 15" macbook Pro, Hi-res screen

I do like the Hi-res screen from the MBP, but maybe the next MBA will be better for me?

WHAT TO DO?????

There is a 600 dollar price-difference between the base 15" and the base 13"MacBook Pro. If you desperately need a higher resolution, then buying an additional screen for 200 dollars would be a lot cheaper.

I'm in the same boat. I"ll be buying a 15" 2.66 mac book pro tomorrow.
I'm pretty sure it will be high res glossy

i'm currently working on a 17.3"

that will be quite a drop in screen size , But you'll really notice
the extra portability

While waiting for Arrandale to come out, i was pretty sure about getting the HR, but got a Std Res and a Dell G2410H ! so i'm happy with this combo ..

Get the 15" if you are not taking out the MBP every single day...

13" is great for portabilty ( i.e. UNI)

Thanks all for the replys....

As for the portability, that isn't an issue since i've got a backpack wich can hold a 17.3". The drop in screen size isn't a problem either, but maybe 13" is to small?

The price difference, yeah I know there is one, won't be such a big problem, I first want to know what the new macbook holds.

And the macbook will be taken out almost every single day

If your wallet allows, get the 15" with hi res screen, it's absolutely amazing. Speed is somehow important to you so the i5 won't just idle all the time

After some thinking and arguing with a friend of mine. I'm pretty sure to buy the 13" MBP.

This where some of the points that helped me come to that decission:
- Already planning to buy a Mac Pro later on this year, so I don't need al the power wich comes with the i5. Besides that, the Mac Pro will get two screens to work with, I can always plug in my MBP to one of them
- Prefer the way the MBP looks
- the MBP has FW800 wich i'm going to need as a Audio engineer
- The high portability of the 13" is als a big plus
- And if the report of the leaked MBA is true, the extra €100 doesn't matter to me
