Do they put some type of special grease or does it just become less slippery from finger grease.

When you first buy the thing it's like skating on ice

Have you asked Siri what she's wearing?

3 days later, it's gone. LOL

This is exactly why they put on the oleophobic coating which is certain to wear off after a month or so... to cut down on returns.

People feel it for the first few days/weeks and say "wow this doesn't fingerprint at all and its so smooth its amazing!"... then a month later its gone and your beyond your return period.

Can you reapply it yourself

No you can not re-apply it and it last for a very long time. Not just for a month! Just do not sue anything abrasive to clean. NO chemical cleaners, just a microfiber cloth at the end of the day works wonders.

Just did a fingerprint comparison between my launch iPhone 4 and my new 4s. I would say that original 4 is 80% as good as the new one in terms of smoothness and fingerprint abolition.

Entirely non-scientific of course. Never put any screen protector on the original either. Can't imagine those clear protectors are good for the coating.
