I am a high school student
I would use the computer for light web browsing
and writing papers, I would like to keep it under $1500.
What is a better upgrade, the 8 GB RAM or SSD?

You'll probably never use 4 GB of RAM, so I'd get the SSD.

Is your mroogler broken? I feel like every person who bought the new mbp asked which one to get here. I've seen more newbies: Join date: Feb 2011 than ive ever seen before lol.

base 13" dude.

thank you all for the replies, I wasnt trying to troll and sorry Im a newbie, Im sure there are a lot Im just excited to get my new mbp and I wanted to know from someone what to get. So right now the consensus is 128 GB SSD? not the 8GB ram?

Ignore the haters NelsonB.

The slowest part of the stock 13" machine is by far going to be the 5400rpm hard drive. You will see the most real-world speed benefits from upgrading to an SSD.

If you are not afraid to get your hands dirty you can save a good amount of money by ordering an SDD yourself and installing it.

I personally am getting a base model 13" pro and then installing the ram upgrade myself as well as installing the optibay mod and having a 128 SSD for the operating system and apps in addition to a 500GB internal drive.

thanks a lot man, I decided to go with the base 13" pro, upgrade to 128GB SSD. I do not need a lot of memory, do you think 128 GB will be enough? if it is I will most likley do that and buy 8GB RAM from Newegg for $89
thanks:)
