Hello all,

Currently working on Windows Desktop but gonna have to buy a laptop for editing on the go.

Probably gonna edit some 4K raw C200 files (along with regular files from mirrorless cameras) which my current desktop can't handle (GTX960, i7 Quadcore) on top of that I use 3rd party plugins like Boris FX which makes me GPU crash and can't even export.

I prefer the OSx workflow that's why I'm looking at the new MBP's.

Gonna go with the 15'' version that's for sure so my question now is:

- Should I go with the base 15'' i7 with Vega 20 or is it worth to upgrade to i9 also?
- Is the 16gb enough?

Don't wanna overkill the laptop and in a future I might get the external eGPU mainly for renders and exports.

Best regards.

Depends on your budget. On the theory that you’ll seldom regret buying too much as opposed to buying too little, I have a completely maxed out MBP arriving next Wednesday (don’t ask about the price). At 72 years old, this may be the last computer I ever buy (and I’ve owned a bunch of ‘em, starting with a Digital Equipment Corporation PDP-8 minicomputer in 1971 and including an original 1984 Mac purchased a few days after it went on sale).
