Long time lurker here deciding I need to join to ask for some advice.

Im looking to expand my midi inputs and outputs but have a rough time deciding if I should go with MOTU MIDI Express 128 or ESI M8U eX or something else.

So I was gonna see what people Macrumors are recommending.

Like the ESI'S auto-detection of midi input/output (it can use every port as an in or out depending on what is connected to it on the other side).

I already have an MOTU MicroLite and I could go down thst route again but I'd like to decide how many of my midi connections are inputs and outputs because I need far more outputs!

Though I need the interface to be at least as tight (latency, jitter, lag) as my MicroLite and I even would wish it would be more tight and stable than it.

Wish there was more data out there so that one could compare the interfaces to see what performs the best.

For my needs i just need basic note on / off and midi sync, needs to have at least 8 outputs, everything else is a bonu but it needs to connect via USB or such since I'm currently on a MacBook pro 15" (2015) and probably will upgrade it to another mac if Apple is doing what they should with the newer macs.

But really just go for it in this thread and tell us about what you feel is the creme de la cream of midi interfaces, but please motivate it and be clear about if it's the best or the most price worthy option since it can be a big difference between those.

So what are the "audio people" of Macrumors using in 2019?

Added a poll just because I could, maybe made it a bit clumsy but I think you get it. :)
