What monitor next to my black MacBook ?

I have a BlackBook (2Ghz, 2Go RAM) on which I watch a lot of sports video (mostly American sports, full games at a max resolution of 1280x720, but more often around 720x480).

I'd like to add a 2nd display next to it, to watch those videos full screen while doing other things on my laptop screen like surfing, chatting, ...

My desk is not too big and I won't sit more than one meter away from the screen. Besides, it will mostly be used to watch those games whose resolution is DVD-like at best.

=> what monitor (20-23") would look best on my desk next to my black MacBook ?

Never heard about that one in France. We mostly have Dell, Samsung, LG, HP...

Would an ACD look good next to a black Mac Book ? I'm also wondering if 20" wouldn't be enough for my use ? Besides, 1920x1200 screen resolution would probably be too much to watch my sports videos...

I think a black enclosure is a must next to my laptop, but I don't want it to be glossy... what an asshle choosing a monitor is

You can never go wrong with an ACD. They are generally priced higher than other displays on the market, but you get what you pay for - they are excellent displays. I don't know how your black macbook would look with an ACD, I am sure it'll look fine. ACD's are due for an update soon, hopefully at macworld in January. Dell LCD's have a decent reputation and may match your black macbook.

Even though ACD are due for an update, it's always dangerous to get a brand new product out of the gate... besides, LED technology is still very expensive and I don't see Apple release new displays immediately. Maybe an other price drop in January, who knows ?

If price is an issue, I picked up an Acer 22 inch widescreen display (model AL2216W) for $179 on sale at an Office Depot. 1680x1050 max resolution, works great hooked up to my old G4 Titanium Powerbook.

It actually has a glossy black shell similar to the Viewsonic, it's not flat or gray like it appears in the product image.
