I have been looking on ebay, dealmac and Newegg for a new monitor that i can use for graphic design work. I am a fine artist breaking into computer design, so I am unfamiliar with what i should look out for.

I am planning on using screen spanning doctor to run the monitor at a higher resolution, and I have found out that I am going to have to find someone to calibrate it for me so the colors are correct, but what should i be on the lookout for? what's the difference between LCD and LED? should i buy online? If anyone here lives in San Fran and thinks i should go to a store, which one? thanks in advance for your help
