I just got my replacement "week 12" Unibody MacBook Pro 17" and when I remove the bottom case, I notice that the fans look different. I then compare it to iFixit's and sure enough its different.

Here are 2 pics:

-The first one is a Maglev fan (more blades) which is not mines, and

-the other one is an unknown (less blades) which I currently have!

Can anyone verify the unknown fan is a different maglev fan or not? I'm not the only one with these fans since its a week 12!

NOTE: When doing 3D gaming, these are louder, maxes around 5500-5712 RPM when GPU is around 80-85

The sticker is on the other side. And they are maglev from the pix.

So your saying that they're both maglev and made by Sunon even tho they look different?

the 2nd pic is what I have, an unknown fan brand that I'm still debating whether its maglev or not....

the 1st pic is not mines BUT its a Maglev fan because of the additional fan blades

Tho they work they can get noisy when gaming....

so can anyone verify if the newer unknown fans are maglev?
I know I'm not the only one with them....week 12...

Apple actually uses two manufacturers for the fans. Sunon makes the "maglev" fans. The other company is Delta. You can easily remove the fan by removing the 3 screws holding them in, and on the other side will be the label for either Delta or Sunon.

anyone else have the delta fans in their 17" UMBP? likes or dislikes?

what do u prefer: delta fans or maglev fans?

what's the technical difference between the delta fans and maglev?

So we first go to comparing the screens to all the way to comparing fans? Really? What next; wifi/bluetooth chips?
