I just bought a powermac and two 1 gig sticks from crucial. I'm curious, does it make any difference what order the sticks are in. Should the larger sticks be in slots 1 and the smaller ones in the following? Can it change the speed at all if the smaller 256 sticks are in slots 1? thanks for the help.

The PowerMac G5 needs the RAM to be paired.

So if slots 0 and 1 are occupied, you need to stick your new RAM into either:
2 and 3
4 and 5
6 and 7
not a mix and match deal.

I don't think that's what the question was. I think NSiebenmor wanted to know if it was better to put the larger chips in the first accessible slots or leave the pre-install RAM in those and add the 2 x 1gb chips in the next 'outer' slots. Hard to explain!
