What OS for late 2010 MBA 11"?

I dusted off my late 2010 MBA. It has a 1.4GHz Core 2 Duo with 2gig memory.

I wanted to reformat this and hand it off to my kid.

Which OS should I reformat it with?

Thanks to the better memory management in OS X Mavericks (and to an extent OS X Yosemite), you should be fine with those and 2GB RAM. It may page a bit to the SSD, but that's fast enough that your kid should be fine for most things.
