How would I go about finding the maker of the display that is on my late 2012 27 inch Imaci? IE Samsung, LG or another.

I've been looking for the reference but can't find it, but as far I am aware they are all LG.

I would be very surprised if any were from Samsung as elsewhere Apple look to be starting to removing them from the supply chain where possible.

i use this on my mbp

ioreg -lw0 | grep \"EDID\" | sed "/[^<]*</s///" | xxd -p -r | strings -6

but it doesn't work on the imac. but I also would guess its probably lg.

I don't think you can find that out, I went into System Information and all it would tell me is the resolution, size, etc.. but nothing about the mfg.

It may have changed recently but I have read that basically all of the 27" 2560x1440 IPS displays on the market used the same LG panel.
