I bought a Monoprice (Realtek 1853) 1000BASE-T USB 3 Ethernet adapter, plugged it into the USB 3.0 port on my 2014 MacBook Pro, and got performance identical to that offered by both my wireless connection, and my Apple Thunderbolt Ethernet adapter. However, on occasion, it wasn't recognized (I don't know if I can blame that on the Monoprice -- this hasn't been an issue since I upgraded my router). Anyways, in an attempt to get a more reliable connection, I purchased the Apple-branded 100BASE-T USB 2 Ethernet adapter. I thought, since it was 100BASE-T, and was being plugged into a USB 3 port, I should be able to get ~100 Mbps. However, the performance is significantly worse (see table below).
Question: Does anyone have this adapter, also plugged into USB 3 with 100+ Mbps internet and, if so, what speeds are you seeing with either Speedtest or Fast.com? I'm trying to determine if it's actually performing as expected, or if there's something wrong.
