What photo website do you use to show off your pics/portfolio?

I've been a very long-time smugmug user (about 7 years, does that qualify as long time?) but considering switching things up.

some people use zenfolio (I have a trial), some use PBase, flickr, some get a domain and host, some use a wordpress or blogspot/blog, etc. I don't know what i want to use yet.

Pretty happy with zenfolio. I have the $25 a year account. Works well and there is an Aperture plug in that makes uploading a snap.

What level are you with Smug?

I've been a Smug pro for a few years, and love it. The slow production of coupons and packages was incredibly frustrating, but now that we have them I feel that the Pro package is nearing completion.

The service is great, Bay is a great lab, and with the new sales tools I don't have much to complain about.

Is it to simply show off your work?

Your own website - like your own domain and hosting is the best.

from there you can do whatever.

one place not mentioned but looks pretty rad is http://www.krop.com

I built my own using iWeb. Bought the domain thru GoDaddy and I think it was $8 for an entire year. My web hosting costs me about $5 a month.

About a year ago, I evaluated Smumug, Flickr, and Zenfolio, and looked at the quality of JPEGs after uploading to each. Zenfolio won hands down for maintaining the sharpest images.

Sharpest images? SmugMug lets you control the sharpness in the control panel...

Maybe that's a recent addition? I don't recall that when I evaluated them. If the quality of the displayed images has improved, that would make them a consideration. Although I still find their UI a bit busier than Zenfolio as well, although I'm sure you can customize it.

but also Flickr and DeviantArt. I've wanted to leave DA for a while because I just feel like the community there is a little too immature, but I've got too many followers and enjoy having my ego stroked once in a while. ;)

I use Wix... but I want to switch as it is flash-based. Otherwise I like it.
