MP 1,1-5,1 What processor upgrade starting from a Dual 2.40 (E5620)?

I'm getting a tray from a Dual 5.1 with 2.4 processors. Does anyone have personal experiences about the sentence "Upgrading to a higher TDP (wattage) processor may increase temperatures and/or fan speed at max load." on the main article?

I upgraded processors in the past but always with the same wattage. Any experience in other ways? What processor would you choose as a top from the list?

The best bang for the buck is X5680. For a little bit more speed, the X5690 is somewhat more money.

Lots of posts here about temps.

FWIW a friend had a his original 6x3.33, and he wanted a dual. After he found one I upgraded to X5680's. He does video work, and his export times are measured in hours. He doesn't really watch anything specific to temps. It just works.
