Friend of mine asked me if it would be possible to design wedding invitations on a Mac and I said "Yes" but i do not know what program would be best suited for this. ideas?

Well to do it the 'correct' way you would use the industry standards:

Quark or Indesign (layout), Illustrator (vector graphcs), and Photoshop (images).

And if you/they cannot afford the software suites for that (or, if you get the demo versions of those, which should work just fine, think that it seems a bit intimidating) I'm sure you could manage quite well with Pages (or even - uch - Word) and just save as pdf and take that to a printshop.

Anyhow, just remember to Keep It Simple... ;)

i've done this with powerpoint. pages seems like it could also do it, i haven't used it though you get a free 30 day trial with tiger. would keynote also handle it?

if you wanted to go pro then you could use photoshop->illustrator->quark, but damn, wouldn't it take you a while to learn how to use those?

just opening up photoshop i feel overwhelmed!

well the wedding is not until June 2006 so i have plenty of time to learn ;)

but yeah i wouldn't even know where to begin using 3 programs to create one invitation template. I don't know, maybe he should just go with someone else and just pay for them. not even sure if he would save that much money having me design them on my iMac.

thanks for the suggestions, keep em coming
