sell your phone for 400-550. pay full price 750-950 for the new phone. you end up either breaking even or paying a hundred or so more. depending on your situation thats not a huge deal.

I got my 6 plus under a subsidy for 2 years. I'm one year down now and I purchased the 6s plus full price. Just buy the damn thing haha.

There going to make you pay to get out of your current contract for a new contract ... Still fuzzy math unless I am missing something.

You pay your phone off and sign a new contract for buy it outright. I have done this every year since 2007.

Those are your options, your paying to pay your phone off so you can get another one. If you don't want to be in a contract then don't sign up for one.

you seem to be missing it man. assuming the OP intends to stay with at&t, when you pay the subsidized price for the phone, it is yours so long as you stay on contract. you have every right to sell it and get the new one the following year at full price just as I said above. If he wants to go to another carrier it's a different story but that's not what was asked.

Right. I know he can sell any time. But he cannot get another subsided iPhone in the middle of his contract. So therefore he has to pay full price. Unless he pays off the contract.

Call retentions. I've upgraded 3 lines early (one was only a year into its contract)

Is the iPhone update program an option for you? I'm only 11 months into my iPhone 6 contract and I got the 6s for $91 today after selling my 6 for $540.

Sell your old one and use the money towards the new full price purchase.
Or if you can't afford it wait till you are eligible for a full subsidy.
Get a higher paying job, collect cans, do some dog sitting on the weekends, put in some hours driving for über. Rob a bank:)
Many options available.

Easy, switch carriers, they pay for ETF and final bill, and get you into a new phone. Problem solved.

Come back to AT&T later if you wish.

I have two lines UDP a year apart and both eligible in September. I just get the phone on which ever line is eligible that year. I get the new phone and my son gets the old. Then I sale off the old one which covered the cost of what I paid on the new phone.

umm do you get new phones on contract for free? no. you pay $300 anyway. 750-400 = 350. so you pay an extra 50-100 give or take.

I don't follow... pay $300 for 1st iPhone. Sell for $400. Buy new iPhone for $750 + tax equals $650 + tax. You're forgetting to add the $300 for the first iPhone to your final figure of 350... which adds up to $650. (plus tax).

this is my last post on the topic because i really dont give a ****. if you have a way of getting a new phone every year for free then i award you the nobel prize. if it's just you on one line with one 2 year contract which is what i thought the dude asking meant, the best you can do is pay at or near the subsidized price every year when a new phone comes out. obviously you pay $300 for the first phone, enjoy it for a year, then when the new one comes out you can pay on aggregate close to $300 for it without having to wait 2 years. what part of that don't you people understand.

He never said he had only one line and who pissed in your cereal this morning. Also I don't see anyone questioning your comments so why dump on everyone else.
