I'm not the one calling it "an 'April 2016' unit". you'll have to take that up with Apple. just pointing out what these are.I would hardly call making it 8GB standard worthy of calling the unit an 'April 2016' unit though. Its truly a 2015 unit, just with more RAM standard.

Apple has done two or more updates in a year several times before. The Air also got a price drop with the RAM upgrade so it probably triggered a new part number, which made it the early 2016 model. My point is, just like the OP's point is, its just weird. I really hope this doesn't prevent other 2016 MBA updates.
I do not normally participate in the normal bashing of Apple, but this has crossed the line for me. Where is the old Apple that came of with things I could never imagine? Now in days, they add 4GB ram to an existing dated MacBook Air, and call it a new product. They better have something big coming soon.Apple has done two or more updates in a year several times before. why do I keep getting quoted in people's angry posts? I'm just the messenger here. also, Apple never called it a new product. it's just a new part number. bookkeeping, inventory tracking; it's just back end stuff that has to be done. and the Air wasn't dated in April.I do not normally participate in the normal bashing of Apple, but this has crossed the line for me. They are. I just bought a brand new, 2016 8GB, 256GB Air from Best Buy and it's labeled "Early 2015" in the About The Mac screen. Not sure if that means it was already a year old when I bought it, or if Apple calls their 2016 updated Airs, 2015 Airs. It's all so confusing. Taking it back for a refund anyway. Love the Air, especially the crazy long battery life, but the screen is pale and colorless. Just going to wait for whatever new is coming down the line later this year.I thought the 2016 MBA were labeled as 2015 MBA on the system info?
