I'm working on 2560X1440 when I design but was wondering a couple of things:

1. What resolution do you use on your 27 inch?
2. Is it possible to make the resolution to 1280 and still be crystal clear as it is on 2560X1440?

No, as the native resolution of that 27" display is 2560 x 1440, and changing to a lower resolution just results in more than one pixel displaying the image.

Example: The 27" has 2560 x 1440 native pixel, the change to 1280 x 800 just lets the 2560 x 1440 pixel display the 1280 x 800, and as that is not even, you get a blurry picture.

Why would you want to use a different res than native?

I feel we can better understand the question if we understand your reasoning :)

Native only. Anything else will look like garbage.

If things are too small, increase font/icon sizes, or just use the ctrl+scroll zoom.

if you are having issues with a move to a larger screen, give it time and you will adjust.

changing (lower) the resolution is not a good route, you would be better off with the 21.5 imac. But, still give it time!

same opinion here. i did find it a tad hard to get used to when i first purchased it, but im used to it!

now i can even view the 2560x1440 screen remoting in from my 1440x900 MBP! tiny writing but you get used to it ;)
