Hi

I have seen a number of MBA 1.6 with HDD and the 9C90 screen and several MBA 1.86 SSD with the 9C9A.
However not the other way around. So I am curious does only the 1.6 come with 9C90 and only 1.86 with the 9C9A?
This is for Rev B only!

Hence my poll.

Thanks

P.S. I have seen this pattern at an Apple store, 2 Best Buys and Micro Center following this pattern plus one at Starbucks. So I am starting to think it is more than a coincidence.

Maybe a retarded question, but:
How do you tell?

I wonder if that is why I have seen so many rev B MBAs with no lines... I have seen seven with no lines. All but one have been 1.86 GHz with SSD. The other one was a 1.6 GHz with SSD. And the one I saw with lines was in an Apple Store (being returned) and was a 1.6 GHz with HDD.

You should probably tell people rev B MBAs... but will probably have rev A owners post their results anyways.

Thanks for pointing out that I missed that this is for rev B!

For those who dont know how to find it do this:
1) Go to System preferences
2) Choose Display
3) Choose Color
4) Open Profile
5) Scroll down to the end
6) Click on second last line that says display make and model and below you will find the modell number.
All seem to be made by manufacturer 610 (guess that is LG)

Hi.

What about the people with a 1,6 Rev.B with SSD?

They are not reflected in your poll.

That would be a 9C9A for me.

Cheers

Don't think I can change the poll now so please use the 1.8 SSD if you 1.6 SSD.

Your 9C9A with 1.6 SSD confirms my theory so far that the SSD variant seems to mostly have the 9C9A screen.

Are you happy with yours?

From what I have seen, all of them have the lines but the 9C90 is way better than the 9C9A out of the box with extremely faint lines than are way harder to notice compared to the others.

Hi.

If I'm happy with my MBA? You mean besides the heat issues? ;-)

I have to admit that I don't have thin white lines (haven't looked for them), but one big one in the middle of the screen. (where the keyboard ends)

This big white line is from pressure and I had the same problem with my Rev. A.

Apple needs to replace my display again. I'm traveling quite a bit and apparently the display is constantly pressing on the aluminum just underneath the space key.

Anyway: I put my vote on 1,6 9C9A, though I have the SSD...

Sorry for that.

Cheers

I am on my 2nd MBA as I returned the first hoping to get a line-free one (I didn't...) anyhow, they were both 1.6 HDD and the first had 9C90 and the one I am on now 9C9A. The first was week 04/09 and this one, 50/08 (interesting stock rotation there...)

That's because it's vastly superior to the cheap 9C90 they throw in those cheap 1.6/HDD versions.;)

No lines, crisp & bright.

I have 1.6Ghz 120GB Rev B and screen model is 9C90. I can see a thin dark line. What I can do now? The apple store change the MBA or fix it?

Model not in list

Mine is custom ordered from the apple's site, with 1.86ghz and 120gb sata, screen model is 9C8F, manufacturer is 0610 , display is crisp and bright, looks flawless to me, does any1 know of this revision?

9C8F is a new model I have not seen or heard about before. What is the manufacturer date on that one? Maybe they finally have started to switch to a better screen?!

Thanks

How about the production week of your machine from the serial number? :)

Hi,

I am currently in Taipei and just checked an Apple retailer store. They had a MBA with screen model 9C8F. It was the first MBA 2nd generation screen out of 8 I have seen that was flawless without lines. MBA was 1.6 model with 120 GB harddrive, serial number was W89031QF22E.

I just remembered that i have seen this screen model on a rev A model before they ran out. this is great news! They are finally starting to use the excellent screen from Rev A again. i wonder how long before this model will show up more standard so that is the screen I get when i place my order from Amazon?

Anyone else remeber this screen on their Rev A?
