I work as a industrial design consultant and I would like to switch from PC to Mac. I am not able to make a final decision if I should buy some MacBook Pro with Retina or “old” MBP. The most important software which I am using is Rhinoceros, KeyShot, Addobe.

Anybody (designer) have some experience with rMBP to share?

Many thanks !!!

I'm no designer but the current Adobe products are retina enhanced. I can't answer about the other two - perhaps contacting them directly.

As for rMBP vs. cMBP.

The Retina MacBook Pro has the following advantages
1. ligher/less weight
2. Gorgeous screen

The Classic MBP has the following advantages
1. Upgradeable ram
2. Standard storage
3. More ports
4. Optical drive

Overall, I love my rMBP, its the best laptop I've purchased and the consensus here is that Apple moving away from the classic MBP in the next iteration. That's speculation but it may happen.

My vote is if you can live within the SSD sizes provided and the apps work as you expect them too, then go for the rMBP

The retina has better cooling, 2 TB ports and an HDMI out.

Buy the cMBP since it has Antiglare option. The glare on the retina is pretty annoying (imo).

+ the cMBP is more future proof.

I'm a photographer.
