Hi, I want to clear out my system because I feel I have so much crap on it and need to gain some space back. I wonder if you could help me with some questions.

What should I do to back-up my apps? Do I just need to back-up my apps folder? Or do I need to do something more?

Will my iPhoto library be OK if I just back up the file from the Pictures folder?

How do I back up my iTunes library?

I don't want to use time machine, I just want to copy the folders to an external HDD.

Thanks,

Ams.

It might be best to reinstall the apps from their DMGs or installers.

For iTunes, copy the entire iTunes folder, not just the music one. And, yes, all you need is the library for iPhoto.

For uninstalling I recommend AppZapper, I really like it. It will completely wipe out applications you install as well as plugins so it's the perfect solution. Is only $12 and license is for life (so you can update for free until the end of times).
