I just realized that ive had my sound setup wrong.. I have an imac g5 with logitech x-530 5.1 speakers..I just used a headphone splitter to hook up my speakers.. so i guess im only getting stereo sound..

I know i need a usb sound card to get the full surround sound? This will make a huge difference in my sound right? (can you pick out a model from bestbuy, i work there so ill get a huge discount)

Thanks..

but i dont think they sell that at bestbuy.. so i would like to get it from there..

How about just plugging the optical out into a stereo receiver and using that to drive the speakers...

because then i need to buy a receiver.. can i use optical out to drive my speakers?

You've got to buy something, and you're restricting it to things that are available at BB.

The speakers you've got won't work, but these should Logitech Z-5500 as they have optical in.
