I'm a techie.
Currently I have the following:
2010 13" MBP
C2D
16GB RAM
200 GB SSD or so
32 GB SSD (in opti bay used for ACSP study)

My usage (on this machine):
- web browsing
- study machine for ACSP (need latest and greatest)

I purchased this machine used on eBay from the original owner. Finding this gem took me a long time and I paid a premium. I bought a different MBP earlier but it had Apple logo bleed issues and I returned it, paid about $80 extra for this unit.
I have this laptop in a plastic two part clamshell case.
This unit has no dents in chassis and one scratch on bottom cover. No issues with the tilt mechanism as well.

I am currently studying for ACSP 10.12 and I know this machine is totally fine for that. I also use it daily web browsing using Google Chrome. I know Chrome is more power hungry than Safari but I don't know by how much. I have noticed battery drains fast (not the original) with Chrome and fan runs fast trying to cool off. I also notice graphics and videos take a while to load. I think what I'm experiencing is a bottle neck of the GPU.

-------
At work I have a 2011 i5 8GB, and SSD.
On that machine I run Chrome, Slack, and few oddballs only and I think I'm also feeling the GPU hurt.

So here is the question.
What should my next machine be?
Are there any speed improvements between 2012 -2015 models?
Do I stay with the 2012 non retina so I can up the RAM or will rMBP increases compensate having 4GB possibly?

EDIT:
I think my budget would be around $600
have not talked about this with the boss yet.
