What should spotlight search do?

In the spotlight search settings I can toggle lots of apps on and off.

If selected on should it search for file names within that app?

If the answer is yes, then it's not working.

I don’t know why Apple chose to include all of your apps in Spotlight settings, because they won’t appear in search results unless they support Spotlight.
