what size is the viewable area on new iPod's 2" screen when playing letterbox movies?

I also have a Sony PSP. Playing a letter box movie isn't
a real problem since it has a much bigger screen.(plus
the fact that it's widescreen) However, there's isn't a
memory stick pro duo larger than 2GB right now.

Sorry... I know I learned this a few dozen years ago in
high school geometry... but forgot everything... :D

New iPod screen is 2.5" or 2x1.5 (4:3 aspect ratio)

Widescreen is 16:9 so the viewable area will be 2x1.125" or 2.3" so 0.19" black bars on top and bottom

Anamorphic (think LOTR) is 1:2.35 so the viewable area will be 2x0.85" or 2.17" or 0.33" black bards on top and bottom.

The iPod nano is 0.27" thick for comparison.

Most Hollywood movies (think Jurassic Park) are 1.85:1 so the viewable area will be 2x1.08" or 2.27" or 0.21" black bars on top and bottom.
