I have always wanted to design my own social stationery and maybe open a store front one day.

I've been recently engaged and thought now is my chance to start with my own package; but I don't know where to begin.

I've heard that Photoshop is the most commonly used software, but my research indicates that it's powerful, but geared for photos. I also came across Graphic Converter and I've also been told of a Microsoft Publisher program (is that available for Mac?) Or is there something more specific for my needs.

I am very interested in your thoughts on these programs for my use, and any recommendations on classes, etc. I am very excited with the opportunity to explore my dream.

Thanks,

A Designing Nubbie

You want to use Photoshop for images, Illustrator for vector/illustration stuff, then bring it all into Quark or Indesign for final layout and typesetting.
