So, one of my best friends decided to start playing guitar and came to me asking about what to play and if I could give her some lessons. (I've played guitar for over 15 years now)

When I started to play it was easy since I loved Neil Young, Beatles, Bob Dylan etc, but she aren't really into anything but newer popular music.

I remember myself how much easier it was to learn songs I've heard tons of times!

So anything recent, (like last 5-6 years) big hits that I could teach her?
She is not totally lost around a guitar and can play most standard chords (Like C, D, E, Em, G, A, Am etc.. not into barre chords yet)

Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground by the White Stripes is a good one
Woman by Wolfmother would be more challenging probably, but still good

I just started learning guitar myself. Not necessarily new but I found that Polly by Nirvana is a very easy song to learn.

All my friends' first song was Hey There Delilah. Don't care for that song though. :p
