I'm a photographer, and love editing photos. Looking to buy my first real laptop. I was looking at the new MacBook Air 13" 8GB RAM and 128GB SSD for 1,139$ with student discount. I'm hoping to keep the computer for 4+ years. Will I need to get the i7 or is it not worth the 150$?

Not worth it. Photo editing is pretty light as long as you aren't using 100 layers in Photoshop.

I think.the i5 is fine, but you will be operating at near 2.6Ghz when do use AutoCad. Get the i7 if you need 2.7-3.3GHz performance.

The same questions have been asked with every model of MBA. The answers don't change, just the people who start the threads.

1. Make sure you're buying enough storage (SSD) to meet your needs.
2. Memory upgrade
3. CPU upgrade
