Maybe M4 Ultra or PCI Express 6.0 lanes ?

What’s gonna make you buy ?

My thoughts are Apple needs to better differentiate the Mac Pro from the Mac Studio. Internal slots are a good start but not supporting GPU expansion with them limits the user base that benefits from them.

An M4 Ultra isn't a sufficient differentiator from an M4 Studio Ultra (assuming there will be one) as it would be no different than the situation we have today with the M2 Ultra. Therefore a more powerful AS chip would be ideal, perhaps an Extreme chip as people like to speculate.

Perhaps adding expandable memory? It's kind of weird to know the 2019 Mac Pro can accommodate up to 1.5GB of RAM but the AS Mac Pro is limited to 192GB.

I guess, in summary, for me (if I were in the market for an AS Mac Pro, which I am not) it would come down to better differentiation.

GPU (NVidia or AMD) support and functioning native windows.

Expandable memory would be interesting, provided it isn’t Apple bespoke at AppleTax prices.

Also storage shouldn’t be Apple bespoke. Currently Mac pro SSD is bespoke and expensive and rare.

I suspect that probably the best solution is to drop Studio and Mac Pro completely and give that portion of the market to PC workstation companies.

*edit* and a different person as CEO, for the reasons of whom the current guy chooses to give his money, in his private capacity. To hell with Apple while that guy is still in charge.

Yes, this annoying, booooring, uninspired, greedy, user patronizing, anti-repair, anti-innovation accounting clerk needs to be replaced for so long now!

This is not what Apple deserves. And not what the always premium-paying customers deserve in the first place!
