Hi there,

there is probably no easy answer to this but perhaps someone can help. I am looking into a new MacBook Pro but I am unsure what specs I need. I guess the most demanding tasks would be motion graphics and video editing with After Effects although I would not be doing any 4K videos or videos longer than let’s say 15 minutes. I also tend to have several applications open (After Effects perhaps aside Illustrator, Photoshop, and many tabs of Firefox). My current Macbook Pro at work (15'' mid 2015,16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, 2.5 GHz Intel Core i7, Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB) seems to ventilate and to use up RAM rather quickly (sometimes only with Firefox open). So I am wondering do I need to aim high (2.6 GHz i7, 32 GHz, Radeon 560x) or would the entry level model (2.2 GHz, 16 GB RAM, Radeon 555x) suffice for this purpose also considering longevity? If not, where would you invest? Processor, RAM, graphic card? I don’t want to spend a fortune but want the laptop to last for many years.

Thanks a lot!

safari is the least resource hungry browser on macOS.

anyway, i'd get more RAM and SSD (since its soldered) first, then others.

This one will ventilate too.
