I was expecting a lame update today, and it was even lamer than even I expected and I was aiming so low I was looking for a 4xxx series ATI GPU, if that gives you any idea how low I shoot with Apple releases.

Anyway, what will it take for you to actually buy a new MBP? FWIW this is NOT a list of things I thought or even remotely hoped would show up today, these are just the things that I can't justify upgrading from a top late-2008 top CTO-spec machine without (I realize we have some of these things now, others will be in the future, and some maybe never). My requirements to upgrade:

--2.8/3 GHz Arrandale/Sandy Bridge (later, second generation or whatever)
--1680x1050 15" display
--IPS
--1 GB dedicated VRAM
--NO INTEL GRAPHICS
--640 GB HDD/512 GB SSD
--8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 RAM
--USB 3.0
--May as well throw BluRay on the list while we're dreaming
--8+ hour battery

Honestly if today's updates would've included IPS and a gig of VRAM on the GPU, I probably could've justified my purchase even giving up things like USB 3.0.

But now that we are looking at this lame-ass update which has very little value over my current machine for upwards of another ridiculously slow ten months, by that time USB 3.0 will be a few months away (which means Apple won't get it til TWO updates from now) so I may as well just wait for that since that's gonna be pretty massive.

How about you? I'm not going to give Apple any more money until they give me something I really want.
