I've just installed a Samsung 830 256Gb into my Mid-2009 MBP 15 if that helps.

OWC All The Way!

I would reccommend OWC SSDs over anything. Their speed and reliability blow all the others out of the water.

I recommend either Intel or OWC drives. Former are commonly regarded in the PC market as best-in-class and latter's Mac support is exceptionally great.

Intel: Intel 320 Series 300GB (SATA2)
OWC: OWC Mercury Extreme Pro 3G 240GB

As it's for a 2009 iMac in your case, SATA3 is a non-issue.

I don't have experience with either though...I use Crucial M225s ATM, but plan on changing them out with Intels or OWCs down the road.
