For an MIS class I am taking, I have a group project in which we have to choose a state of the art technology and research and discuss it. Because I am lazy, another group already took Apple/iPhone... so that one is out. Can anyone else help provide some ideas for some technologies that would make a good/interesting research paper? I'm really awful at coming up with initial ideas... :/ Preferably something that is a little out of the ordinary, yet still easy to find information on.

CMOS imaging sensor design and high sensitivity noise performance.
Nikon has been doing some fantastic stuff with their CMOS sensors in their DSLR cameras.
